Body Acne Can Be EmbarrassingMost people are familiar with facial acne but many do not realize that body acne can be just as much of a problem and is almost as common. It can be anywhere on the body though is most often found on the back, shoulders and bum. It is equally as upsetting and embarrassing as facial acne because it limits what a person can wear. Women with body acne are unlikely to want to wear a backless dress or bathing suits. The same goes for guys in trunks or tank tops. But there are ways to bring this under control and be able to wear what you want again. Body acne can be more difficult to deal with because of where it is. The back area is especially hard because the skin is thicker. Some of the causes of this include menstrual cycles and stress in women, while for men stress and steroids might be the culprits. Since sweat is a major cause with any type of acne, making sure you shower after any kind of workout or on a hot day will help a lot. The areas where you are more likely to get acne should be washed using an anti-bacterial soap. You can also use a benzoyl peroxide to dry out the blemishes. But be careful not to over dry them. That is not good either. While in the shower a loofah sponge may prove to be the best for cleaning. Try to get rid of the dead skin on your body without rubbing too hard. You do not want to irate the acne while trying to improve your condition. If your body acne is not reacting positively to the many over the counter creams or lotions you can choose from, then the next step is to see your dermatologist. They can give you some stronger prescription medications to treat the problem. Once the condition is under control there are ways to keep reoccurrences from happening. A couple of useful tips include not wearing clothing that is too tight. This does not give the skin the ability to breath. When choosing laundry detergents, these can irritate sensitive skin; choose ones that are not scented. There are even some made for sensitive skin so buy those ones. Eating healthy is another important consideration in the fight against body acne.
